Description: This bike altered a good deal of my preconceptions of what it would be like to ride a Harley. Was it fast? No. Did it handle like a 748? No. But it did NOT: vibrate like a paint shaker, leak oil, run out of gas in 90 miles, fall apart or make lots of noise. Much to my surprise the clutch pull and other controls were light and precise, the gearbox wasn't clunky, and the engine was smooth. Apparantly Harley made big changes to the Sportster, including rubber mounting the engine, in '05. At the peril of offending Harley riders everywhere, my summary of the bike is: "quite pleasant." And at the peril of being banned from the BMW MOA for life, I also found it much more enjoyable than the R1200C. Maybe there's a lesson in that.
